Wonderful Wellies

Hunter Wellington Boots Huntress design

We’ve fallen head over heels for one of the hottest footwear trends… Hunter Wellington Boots! Once a traditional symbol of British country life, these rubber boots have become a modern day fashion statement on the other side of the pond. We tried on a pair of these hip waterproof wellies and were pleasantly surprised to find that water was impenetrable through them. With its flattering cut for women, as well as a rubber company logo distinctly stitched in front, the Huntress design is our pick for a trendy and comfortable way to splash through puddles while getting to work on a rainy day!

Timele$$ advice

We read The 50 best ways to grow your money compiled by the staff at MoneySense for the magazine's August 2006 issue, and we're impressed that, even nearly three years later, this advice is anything but dated. We're especially fans of the 8 commandments they came up with, practical rules to fiscally follow such as paying yourself first, spending less than you make, and understanding the concept that time literally is money. There's also a wealth of info related to debt, shopping, insurance, home, taxes, investing, retirement, and family that's worth taking heed of.

Lost & Found

Never Get Lost Again: The Complete Guide to Improving Your Sense of Direction by Linda GrekinIt's something a lot of people who have, or rather, don't have, will poke fun at themselves for. The reality, however, is that lacking a good sense of direction is not always a laughing matter. For the directionally-challenged, it's often a frustrating and sometimes even scary experience to not know where you're going or how to get where you need to. Especially for us career gals who travel often for business, if we lack direction sense, there's undoubtedly a lot of additional time spent studying maps, going over routes, and pondering how to get from A to B. To help us conquer our fears and frustrations, we picked up a copy of Never Get Lost Again: The Complete Guide to Improving Your Sense of Direction by Linda Grekin (RDR Books), and we're so glad we did! The author herself admits to having a poor sense of direction and is therefore able to write with true authority on the subject. In her book, Grekin explains why people who are perfectly competent in other parts of their lives manage to get lost, and also what they can do about it. An invaluable and practical resource for those who want to find their way around!

Hard hitting, smooth tasting

Mike's Hard Lemonade
Cottage time has arrived and we're rather fond of sitting on the patio deck with a bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade in hand. With the sun shining down on us, the aroma of burgers wafting from the grill, and this refreshing lemonade cooler to quench our thirst, we're hard-pressed to think of a better way to spend a beautiful summer day.
